I have seen both the Grudge version and both are scarier the japanese is more scarier and simpler. Espically in the case of the woman who was murdered and her son which was interesting as it gave a better view of why she became the thing that she did. I would recommend reading this first before onn the film but it’s After seeing the American film at the cinema and eventually buying the Japanese film, Lei found this to be a refreshing read because it explained the films in much greater detail.

For anyone else looking for a more-than-decent time, I wouldn’t recommend this. A Novel is the novelization of the two videos and movies. This curse accumulates in the place where that person lived, and becomes a ‘karma’. But of course this book is not for children.

But in the book I found out more facts about Kayako’s life, more details, so of course a book is much better. Few stories have influenced modern horror as much as Ju-on. That’s normal, the story really relies on visual cues, that sometime get lost in the translations, with the author being forced to describe somethings and then explicitly say that the characters aren’t noticing it.

If you’ve seen the movie “The Grudge” this is basically it in paperback. The format is also interesting.
